Nikki Chanel, a native Memphian, fell into makeup by accident 15 years ago. It was an accident that changed the course of her life forever.
As a dancer she always had a love for art and color, but never knew that it would become her life. Much to the dismay of her family, Nikki’s college hobby became a full time career. After working briefly for Fashion Fair, she was recruited right from their counter by MAC cosmetics where she remained for 13 years. Nikki worked her way up from a temporary position in small town Chattanooga, TN, to management in the Bay area, California before she was again recruited by a well known big box retailer to oversee the redevelopment of their cosmetics and fragrance departments in the DMV. Realizing that retail was no longer something she enjoyed, she took on the role of District Manager for Lancôme where she oversaw approximately 23 stores in the DC, Maryland, And Virginia area.
Prior to leaving MAC and relocating to the East Coast, Nikki solidified her position as a Freelance Artist and Trainer through the development of her own company, Facegyrl Brands, LLC. Through Facegyrl, she has had the opportunity to meet and work with amazing national artists and clients. Her company holds contracts with several national beauty brands where she provides freelance artists, training, and in store support when needed. She continues to use this platform to provide agency, support, networking and training to anyone interested in a beauty career.
“I am so far from the best artist in my market. However, I know the business. And I know being the best is never the issue. Being available, knowledgeable, respectable, and humble is the name of the game. If I can help, I will. If I can’t, I’ll find someone who can. Not to mention I can beat a face when the mood hits me.”
