TaKeisha is a pioneering hair care specialist, stylist, and beauty expert with more then 15 years of experience caring for clients with chemically processed and natural hair.
She earned her cosmetology license from the Hair Design School and soon carved a niche in the competitive hair care industry for helping women to restore healthy hair and recover from damage caused primarily by chemical treatments and improper installation of weaves and extensions. Takeisha has been trained by the crème de la crème of the hair care industry, including renowned professionals Lisa Akbari, Fatou Jangum, Yvonne Mobley and Dr. Joanne Cornwell. She is a certified stylist and consultant for Sisterlocks™, and also serves as a Brand Ambassador for MOTIONS’ new Curly to Straight product line. After shifting her focus early on in her career from styling only to business ownership, TaKeisha opened A Natural Affair Beauty Lounge in Memphis, TN in 2008. Following her mother’s advice, she chose to focus on serving clients with natural hair or those transitioning to natural due to rising popularity, and also because she wanted to create an environment where women and children would feel empowered to discover and embrace their natural beauty. A Natural Affair Beauty Lounge is the first hair care salon of its kind now serving clients in Memphis, TN, Jackson, TN and all surrounding areas.
A fearless business leader and natural hair care advocate, Takeisha has been recognized by Essence Magazine as one of the ‘25 Most Beautiful and Inspiring Black women in the World’ (2006) and her salon, A Natural Affair Beauty Lounge, received the ‘Best in Black’ award for #1 hair salon in Memphis from the New Tri-State Defender Newspaper (2013).
TaKeisha is also the founder and creator of the Naturals in the City Hair & Wellness Expo – an annual event that attracts thousands each year by connecting natural hair and wellness business owners with consumers. The expo offers unique opportunities to learn more about the benefits of and best practices for maintaining healthy, beautiful natural hair, and a venue for celebration and fellowship among Mid-South naturals and aspiring naturalistas.
TaKeisha is currently filming for a new reality docu-series entitled, “Natural in the City” premiering in January 2014. The series will showcase her life through the lens of a business owner & entrepreneur, devoted wife, and mother of three beautiful daughters – Destiny, Dayah, and Dani.
“I want to be useful, I want to educate, create opportunities, open doors, inspire, and ultimately be the change I want to see in this world.” – TaKeisha
